Wind hydrogen energy storage system                                      July, 4th 2011

For the storage of electricity generated in a wind farm with approx. 150 mW, hydrogen is generated by electrolysis with a connected load of 1,000 kW, and stored at 300 bar. Depending on the wind conditions, if there is insufficient wind a cogeneration plant is connected up to safeguard the wind farm's own power requirement. The future operator "WIND-projekt Ingenieur- und Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH" plans to use this RH2-WKA project for entry to the sustainable storage technology sector. In future, such systems can be used to provide energy from fluctuating renewable energy sources according to demand and grid requirements.
